History

Cellophane was a band that started in 1995 after Shannon Crawford convinced Ross Robinson to produce a demo.[1] Robinson agreed after hearing a demo previously made by Crawford, and suggested that bass player Doug Ardito and drummer Mark Bistany work with Crawford. John Chase came in during the session and contribute some guitar tracks, and the newly-formed Cellophane was signed less than six months later to Virgin Records.[2] A prominent position on the 1996 Ozzfest bill followed,[3] and Virgin suggested that producer Howard Benson record the début album, Cellophane (1997). The band toured in support of the album, opening for bands like Creed and Sevendust, but Cellophane split shortly afterwards. Ardito went on to play bass for Puddle of Mudd, and Crawford formed Monster in the Machine after working as a visual artist.[4][5]
